When Attorney Weber graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lycoming College in 1983 and moved to Philadelphia to pursue her law degree, she never imagined that one day she would return to Williamsport and become the Managing Principal of one of the most prestigious elder law and estate planning law firms in the country.
After graduating from Temple University with her law degree in 1986, Attorney Weber was selected as a federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable Louis C. Bechtle, Federal District Judge, Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She then accepted a position as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. It was when she was working in the United States Attorney’s office that she was first exposed to the complexities of government benefit programs like Medicare and Medicaid. She investigated and criminally convicted the first Medicare money laundering seizure case in the country. Her work in that case won her the Department of Health & Human Services Inspector General’s Integrity Award.
In 2001, Attorney Weber returned to Central Pennsylvania. When she began helping an aging family member with her own estate and long-term care needs, Attorney Weber began to realize how difficult it can be for seniors and their families to understand the maze of long-term care. She soon decided to focus her practice on sophisticated estate planning and elder law; she joined Marshall, Parker & Associates in 2004. She became a Principal of Marshall, Parker & Weber in 2010 and assumed the role of Managing Principal in 2011. In her role as Managing Principal, Attorney Weber is responsible for managing and overseeing all of the operations of the firm in addition to meeting with her estate planning, long-term care and gas royalty clients.
Attorney Weber is proud to be in an elite group of Pennsylvania attorneys who have undergone the extensive process to become a Board Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation under Authorization of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The CELA certification, held by less than 50 attorneys in the state, requires an in-depth, working knowledge of the complex estate and long-term care issues that seniors can face. She is also a VA Accredited Attorney for the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for veterans benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Attorney Weber has always enjoyed teaching others. When she lived in Philadelphia, she served as an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s University Graduate Criminal Justice Program where she designed and taught a course on Law and Social Policy. She is a frequent speaker to consumer and professional organizations statewide. She has worked closely with the Pennsylvania Bar Institute (PBI) as a Course Planner for the “Long-Term Care Planning for Seniors” program that offers credits and information for other elder law attorneys.
Attorney Weber is an active member of various professional and community organizations. She serves on the Executive Committee for the Lycoming Law Association and the Elder Law Council for the Pennsylvania Bar Association . She is a member of the Northcentral Pennsylvania Estate Planner’s Council and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She is serves on the Ethics Advisory Board for Albright LIFE and is a member of the American Inn of Courts.
