Susan Pollack served as Chairperson of the Falls Church Senior Citizens Commission from 1997 to 2011 and was on the Executive Board of the Falls Church Education Foundation. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association of the National Capital Area and is a member of the Arlington Bar Association’s Legal Committee on the Problems of the Elderly, and the Academy of Special Needs Planners. In January 2013, Susan joined the Board of Directors of the Arc of Northern Virginia.
Susan was named one of Washington’s Top Lawyers in the December 2012 and December 2013 issues of Washingtonian Magazine. Her name appears under the “Respect Your Elders” category which lists attorneys who deal with issues on aging, retirement, questions about Social Security and moving to a nursing home, etc. She has also been named by Northern Virginia Magazine as a “Top Lawyer” in the area of Guardianship/Conservatorship law and was named one of Virginia’s “Top Rated Lawyers” in the area of Trusts and Estates.
In addition to her work in elder law and estate planning, Susan serves as a court-appointed guardian/conservator for numerous incapacitated individuals and as a Trustee for several Special Needs Trusts. Susan has also been asked by many of her Clients to act as their Agent or Trustee and assist in the day-to-day management of their financial and medical affairs. She is often seen on Cable TV, Channel 16, Fairfax, discussing legal problems of the elderly.
Susan is licensed to practice law in both Virginia and the District of Columbia. She is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar Association’s Trusts and Estates sections. Since 1995, Susan has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is also a member of its Virginia Chapter. She is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Susan is also an accredited attorney for the preparation, presentation and prosecution of claims for Veteran’s Benefits before the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and is a qualified Guardian Ad litem (GAL) for incapacitated persons for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Susan graduated from George Mason University’s School of Law in 1989. Before starting her second career as an attorney, she worked as a government contracts specialist for the Department of Labor for 25 years. During that time, Susan received the Distinguished Career Service Award from then Secretary of Labor Robert B. Reich.
Susan is the proud mother of adult twin daughters and resides in the City of Falls Church.
