Nicholas George Kaltsas, Esq.

Elder & Disability Law Advocates

Attorney Kaltsas, a graduate of the University of Miami and New England School of Law, has been practicing law for more than 29 years. He has been a member in good standing of the Massachusetts Bar Association since 1987 and holds membership in the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and Massachusetts Bar Association. In 1998, personal illness required that he deal with Medicaid (“MassHealth”) on a personal level. Because of firsthand experiences in dealing with the complexities of the American legal and health care systems, he developed a sensitivity to the multiple stresses caused by dealing with Medicaid. These interactions have fostered in him a strong interest in “elder law,” including the regulations and policy decisions that ultimately determine eligibility for public benefits.

Experienced in a wide variety of practice areas, his past experiences make him uniquely qualified to lend counsel to individuals and families embroiled in any stage of the Medicaid advocacy process, whether Medicaid planning, applications, or appeals.

Attorney Kaltsas has returned to the full-time practice of law, practicing as an Elder Law and Trial attorney. Elder & Disability Law Advocates, the law firm founded by Mr. Kaltsas, is committed to serving the needs of the senior population and focuses on the needs of older individuals, people with disabilities, and their families. His practice is concentrated on Estate and Medicaid Planning - including Trust based estate plans, Medicaid Applications and Advocacy, Guardianships and Conservatorships, Estate and Trust Administrations, and Trials or hearings.  He practices before Massachusetts State and Federal Trial Courts, as well as Massachusetts Regulatory and Administrative Agencies.

Before his return to the full-time practice of law, Attorney Kaltsas engaged in various professional and community activities to help seniors and individual with disabilities, meet their needs. Attorney Kaltsas was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to serve as a statutory Member of the Massachusetts State Rehabilitation Council (SRC), part of Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. While a member of the SRC, Attorney Kaltsas served as Chair of their Executive Committee and Chair of their By-Laws and Nomination Committee. He also served as a Presenter at the Annual Consumer Conference for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission. Attorney Kaltsas has also served as a member of the Central Massachusetts Agency on Aging (CMAA). While serving as a member of CMAA, Attorney Kaltsas served as President of their Board of Directors and Chair of their By-Laws and Nomination Committee. Attorney Kaltsas was a past commission member for the Commission on Elder Affairs for the City of Worcester, Massachusetts. Most recently, Attorney Kaltsas is the creator, voice and host of “The Senior Focus” - Radio, TV and Podcast programming on topics of concern to the senior population and to individuals with disabilities.

Although focusing his efforts on providing high quality legal counsel and services to clients, Attorney Kaltsas continues to provide lectures on elder law topics, hold legal clinics, host symposia, and create broadcasting and other programming.
