Attorney Michael J. Kotarski has been a Michigan licensed attorney for twenty-five (25) years. He is a sole practitioner in his own Elder Law Office, he is involved in litigation, mediation, and administration.  He manages people and circumstances fulfilling multiple roles on a daily basis, balancing under-protection and over-protection of disabled and elderly.  Attorney Kotarski concentrates in elder law, with a strong focus on guardianships, conservatorships, durable powers of attorney, patient advocate designations, probate administration, and mediation. He has a commitment to consumer protection of the elderly and disabled. He makes frequent trips out of our office for home visits, hospital visits, and nursing home visits all related to Long Term Care Planning often in a context of discharge planning that frequently involves Medicare advocacy, hospice planning and administration. Attorney Kotarski has earned an Associates of Arts from Mott Community College, a Bachelors of Arts from University of Michigan Flint, and a Masters degree of Business Administration from Western Michigan University. Attorney Kotarski completed his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He is licensed in the State of Michigan and admitted to practice before the State Bar of Michigan, United States District Court Eastern District of Michigan and United States District Court Western District of Michigan, and for United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, Cincinnati, Ohio.  

In addition to his professional memberships, Attorney Kotarski has also been a coach for elderly in “Pope’s Court” Canonical Administrative review- essentially the Catholic Church grievance process. He has also been a volunteer mediator for the Community Dispute Resolution Center in Genesee County, Michigan for approximately the last ten (10) years.
