CARL R. (CHIP) GRIFFIN, 31st year, grew up in Boothbay Harbor, attended public schools for 12 years in the Boothbay Region, and graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 1973. Selected Phi Beta Kappa, he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bowdoin College in 1977. He was a Dean's List student at the University of Maine School of Law, graduating in 1980. He has owned and managed his law firm in Boothbay Harbor since 1980. Memberships include: American Bar Association, Maine State Bar Association, and past president of the Lincoln County Bar Association.
A member of the Real Estate Section and Trust and Estates Section of the Maine State Bar Association, Chip is also part of the Law Practice Management and Real Property, and Trusts and Estate sections of the American Bar Association. He has been a faculty member since 1999 of the Maine State Bar Association's "Bridging the Gap" seminar, writing and speaking on law practice management.
He is the only Lincoln County Attorney who is a member of the Elder Law section of the Maine State Bar Association and the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Areas of concentration include estate planning, estate administration, elder law, real estate, business, and land use.

"Chip" Griffin and his paralegals focus on real estate, estate planning, elder law, and estate administration.The real estate portion of our practice includes all areas of real estate from contract to closing, as well as title insurance, general real estate planning, and land use issues. Real estate work incorporates drafting contracts, counseling clients, preparing deeds, examining titles, and issuing title insurance. Attorney Griffin is an agent for First American Title Insurance Company.
We help our clients with their estate planning by identifying their goals and objectives. Our work includes preparing estate planning documents, such as wills, powers of attorney, health-care directives, living trusts, and all the steps n ecessary to properly re-title assets. Estate tax planning can be significant part of the estate planning process.
Our Elder law work concentrates on assisting people to plan long-term care, both well in advance and in crisis situations.
We assist clients with estate administration by offering whatever services they may need, which may include probating the will, administering the will and trusts, or assisting the client with payment of bills, accounting, and distribution of assets. We can also prepare Maine and Federal estate tax returns.
