Britton Ryan Garon
Maine Center for Elder Law, LLC
Britton Ryan Garon learned an invaluable lesson when she was forced to take a leave of absence from work to take care of her terminally ill mother: make sure your estate planning is in order before it is actually needed. “There is a lot of stress surrounding the medical and legal unknowns of your loved ones,” Britton says. “Using what I have learned in my own experiences, my goal is to assist my clients with preplanning before something catastrophic, such as an illness, incapacity or death, happens--or lesson the stress during such times.”
Britton received her B.A. in Criminal Justice, Cum Laude, from Northeastern University (1999), her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School (2005) and an LL.M. in Elder Law from Stetson University College of Law (2012). She is licensed to practice law in Maine and Massachusetts and is accredited by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Britton lives in York with her husband and three children. She serves on the Board of SAGE Maine (Services and Advocacy or GLBT Elders) and is the Chair of the SAGE Maine Program Committee. She also volunteers on the Town of York Board of Appeals, the Executive Committee of the York Chapter of Dining For Women, and serves as an LGBT Aging Education Ambassador through the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging.
