Bernard J. Powers is a practicing Wisconsin licensed attorney since 1982 in addition to being a licensed Certified Public Accountant since 1979. His practice focuses on estate planning and elder law (Medicaid planning). In addition, he has handled tax matters since 1976 and various business law matters since 1982.

Bernie’s wife of 31 years, Lynette, has been an elementary school teacher for 26 years. He has three children all of whom are involved in computer software development (aeronautical and tax).

Bernie graduated near the top of his law school class at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He has been a member of the American and Wisconsin Bar Associations since 1982. He was the Racine County Bar Association’s treasurer for 12 years, and now serves as Treasurer of Racine/Kenosha Estate Planning Council, and is a member of the Racine/Kenosha Tax and Accounting Professionals. He has lectured and written extensively about estate planning, tax and business law matters. In 2012 and 2013, he was recognized in “Best Lawyers in America” and “Best Lawyers of Wisconsin."
