Bernard A. Krooks,  JD, CPA, LLM (in taxation), CELA, AEP® (Distinguished), is founding partner of Littman Krooks LLP and Chair of its Elder Law and Special Needs Department. He is a nationally recognized expert in elder law and special needs planning.

He has been honored as one of “The Best Lawyers in America” in Elder Law and Trusts & Estates every year since 2007. Krooks is a member of the Estate Planning Hall of Fame of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils, an award given in recognition of distinguished service in estate planning. He is past President of the Board of Directors of the Arc of Westchester, the largest agency in Westchester County serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Krooks serves as Chair of the Elder Law Committee of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He is Group Chair of the Elder Law and Special Needs Planning Group of the Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association (ABA). Krooks is past President of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and past Chair of the ElderLaw and Special Needs Section of the New York State Bar Association. He has also served as a board member of the Hudson Valley Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association and is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Caregiver Insights Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to assisting individuals and their families with end-of-life issues. Krooks has been selected as a “New York Super Lawyer” since 2006.
